Oakville, ON – December 8, 2024: The Canara World Foundation (CWF) hosted its highly anticipated Christmas Potluck Party on Sunday, December 8th, at 5:00 PM at the Canara Cultural Centre, located at 2415 Rebecca Street, Oakville. This post-pandemic tradition has become a highlight of the festive season, uniting the Konkani Catholic community for an evening of joy, connection, and celebration.

The Canara Cultural Centre, inaugurated in 2019, was established to promote Konkani heritage, culture, and language. As a vibrant hub for cultural and community events, it serves as a space where traditions are preserved and celebrated.

This year’s Christmas celebration was filled with memorable moments, including caroling, lively music, dancing, fun games, spot prizes for all ages, and a 50/50 raffle. The event featured a special appearance by Santa Claus, who brought gifts for children, danced, and spread holiday cheer before heading back to the North Pole.

Guests were welcomed by Jennifer Mendes-committee member, while Max Mendes President, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to Fr. Ranjan for his spiritual guidance and generosity in providing the Centre as a venue for CWF events. He also thanked the guests for bringing in delicious food, the Dj, emcees, all the volunteers for their time & efforts and a special recognition was given to sponsors, including Miriam & Flavian Pinto, Nancy & Max Mendes, Jennifer & Arun Mendes, Dorothy & Rony Rego, and Anita & Jerald Moraes, whose support made the event possible.

The evening’s entertainment was curated by DJs Joyson and Ronan D’Souza, while the young and dynamic emcees Meghan Pereira and Ronan D’Souza kept the audience engaged.
