In a poignant ceremony on December 28, 2023, at 9:30 am, Mount Rosary Hospital in Alangar Moodbidri witnessed the birth of compassion at the recently concluded Inaugural & Blessing Ceremony of the Geriatric and Palliative Care Centre.

Dedication and Legacy:

A testament to love and care, the Centre was graciously donated by the main benefactors, Maxim & Nancy Mendes, joined by Sunil & Sunitha Mendes and Arun & Jennifer Mendes. This haven stands tall in honour and memory of their late father, Basil Mendes, a visionary whose spirit of generosity echoes through the walls.

Awards and Recognition:

Maxim Mendes, a shining beacon of altruism, received the prestigious Award of Honour for his tireless charitable efforts, recognized both in Canada and around the world. Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, bestowed this honor, emphasizing the impact of kindness on a global scale.

Symbolic Gestures and Tribute:

Nancy Mendes, Maxim Mendes, and Magdalene Mendes were adorned with symbolic shawls and garlands by Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, a beautiful expression of gratitude and a shared commitment to healing. The ceremony further unfolded with the unveiling of the bust of Basil Mendes by Mrs. Nancy and Mr. Maxim Mendes, a touching tribute from the Max Mendes Group.

Guests of Honor and Shared Joy:

Mrs. Magdeline Mendes, the Guest of Honour, played a pivotal role in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, symbolizing not just the inauguration of a centre but the beginning of a journey towards healing. Distinguished guests including Msgr Edwin C Pinto : Founder, Helpers of Mount Rosary. Rev. Fr Walter Dsouza: Parish priest of Mount Rosary church, Alangar, Mr. Chandrashekar M.: CEO MCS bank, Moodbidri and Sr. Suneetha DSouza: Superior General, Helpers of Mount Rosary and Sr. Prescilla Dmello: Immediate past superior general, Helpers of Mount Rosary added to the spirit of celebration, representing various facets of support.
